Blessed Beyond Waiting
“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I asked of him.”
— 1 Samuel 1:27 (ESV)
We first met Ate Arlyn Valderama at her small neighborhood store. At first, she hesitated when we offered free health services. She wasn’t sure what to expect. But after a gentle conversation, introducing ourselves, her heart softened, she said "yes" and welcomed us in.
That simple “yes” opened the door to something greater. As Ate Arlyn sat down, we began with a simple foot massage. The relief it brought surprised her, and almost immediately, she thought of her mother-in-law. With care, she encouraged her to join us, assuring her that the massage was gentle and soothing.

Soon, her mother-in-law agreed.
We first checked her blood sugar as part of the health service before beginning the massage. She lay down on her bed while we carefully worked on her feet. Since it was her first time, she initially felt some discomfort. We slowed down, adjusted our touch, and continued gently, the discomfort gradually faded. Before long, she had drifted peacefully to sleep.
What seemed like a simple act of service soon became an opportunity to hear what was really in their hearts. As we spent time with the family, Ate Arlyn opened up about a burden she and her husband had been carrying for years. Her husband worked as a seaman, and for years, they had carried the longing to have a child.

It was a desire they had carried quietly, through the passing months and years. We listened as she shared her heart . Before we left, we gathered and prayed. We asked God to bless their family and entrusted to Him the desire they had been praying about for so long. After that, we continued with our ministry.
We met other families, served other people, and went on to the next place where God was leading us. But even as the days became busy, we did not forget Ate Arlyn and the prayer she had shared with us. Her story stayed in our hearts, and whenever we remembered her family, we continued to bring them before God in prayer. We did not know when or how He would answer, but we trusted that their desire was safely in His hands.

A month later, we returned.
This time, Ate Arlyn welcomed us with a joy we could immediately see on her face. She smiled and told us that she could no longer receive a foot massage. She was pregnant.
For a moment, the room seemed to fill with both tears and laughter. We gathered together once again, this time not to ask for a blessing, but to give thanks for one. After years of waiting, their prayer had finally been answered.
Ate Arlyn and her family expressed their gratitude, believing that the Lord used our humble service and prayers to bring forth this blessing. Truly, when God moves, He doesn’t just answer prayers—He writes miracles into ordinary days, reminding us that even in seasons of waiting, hope is never wasted. In His perfect timing, He can turn waiting into blessing, longing into life, and an ordinary moment into a testimony of His faithfulness.
