"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
Psalm 147:3

One of the most unforgettable moments in my missionary journey was meeting a little boy named Kurt. He was only five years old, yet already battling for his life. Just days after we arrived in Bataan, we were taken by a faithful church widow to visit him. What we found broke my heart.
Kurt had viral meningitis encephalitis. He lay motionless, unable to speak, walk, or even smile. A nasogastric tube fed him. His mother, Jackielyn, sat beside him, her eyes swollen with tears. They had sold everything—their house, their tricycle—just to save him. Now they were living with his grandmother, clinging to hope.

I wept as I looked at him. In that quiet, painful moment, I felt the weight of suffering in this broken world. But in Jackielyn’s eyes, I also saw faith. Somehow, she believed we had been sent by God to be part of Kurt’s healing. Silently, I prayed, “Lord, let us be instruments of Your mercy.”

From that day on, we visited often—praying, singing, massaging his weak limbs, and sharing God’s Word. Slowly, joy began returning to that home. Jackielyn’s hope never wavered.
And by God’s tender mercy—Kurt walks. He no longer lies in silence; he talks, eats, sings, and even dances with joy. From lifeless stillness to laughter and movement, his story is a living testimony that God's healing hand still moves today. Though his journey isn’t over, every step he takes is a miracle in motion—a reminder that our God restores what was once thought lost.

Witnessing his transformation reminded me that missions aren’t always about crowds or preaching. Sometimes, it’s about one fragile child, one grieving mother, and the quiet power of God restoring life.
In moments of brokenness, God reveals His nearness. When we show up with love, He shows up with power. Truly, the mission field is not just where we serve—it’s where we see God's heart move.
