Hope Still Moves

"Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."  — Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)

For the past four years, Tatay Jose has lived with paralysis. Something as ordinary as leaving home now requires careful preparation, extra hands, and incredible determination.

Still, despite everything he has faced, his faith has never stopped moving forward.

That quiet determination was put to the test once again on the journey to Boac. What should have been a simple trip for a medical appointment became a long and demanding journey. Heavy rain poured throughout the trip, and it took two to four people to carefully carry Tatay Jose onto the boat.

We traveled for nearly two hours to reach Boac, and along the way he became sick, vomited, and endured great discomfort. Every obstacle reminded us how exhausting a single medical appointment can become for someone in his situation. Yet beyond the exhaustion, this journey carried something even more important: hope.

After almost three years without a check-up, the visit was an important milestone. His doctors adjusted his medications and requested laboratory tests to determine whether further changes would be needed. We were grateful to see that the severe swelling he had experienced in the past had already improved—bringing renewed encouragement to both his family and those of us who have walked alongside him. It reminded us that even when progress is slow and uncertain, every sign of improvement is a gift worth celebrating.

Our relationship with Tatay Jose did not end at the hospital. Together with his wife, Ate Adora, they continue to join our weekly Bible studies. Although Tatay Jose can no longer speak, his desire to know God remains clear. His life still testifies of hope, and Ate Adora's unwavering love reflects God's grace each day.

They remind us that faith is not measured by an easier life, but by a heart that refuses to let go of God. As we walk with them, we are reminded that even the smallest act of love can become a powerful witness of His unfailing grace. Where faith endures and love serves, hope lives on.
