"I Will Go"

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:19

During the month of August, 2025 and in the weeks that followed, we had been preparing for an evangelistic crusade held from September 25, 2025 to October 4, 2025 in Barangay Busel Busel, Santiago, Ilocos Sur.

While the crusade was ongoing, I met a man everyone called "Tatay". His name was Domingo, and he was 64 years old. One day, I visited him for a follow-up. When we first talked, I introduced myself, and he kindly introduced himself as well. What started as a simple conversation slowly turned into something deeper.

Tatay began sharing his life story with me. He told me about his past—how he had once been involved in many kinds of illegal drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes. Yet despite those struggles, he had always been a hardworking man. Even at his age, he still continued to work.

What touched me the most was that Tatay lived alone. He had no companion to support him. He also struggled with asthma, which made life even harder for him. But despite his illness and his difficult situation, he kept pushing himself to work. According to him, he had no choice—he needed to earn enough to buy food and medicine just to survive.

As he shared his story, tears started falling from his eyes. At that moment, I felt my heart break for him. I almost cried as well. Seeing his pain and loneliness made me silently pray, asking God to comfort him.

That was when I started sharing with him about the love of God. Through the Word of God, I introduced him to the hope that could be found in Christ. I shared several Bible verses about God’s promises and reminded him that no matter what his past had been, God still cared for him deeply.

By God’s grace, my partner and I were also able to help him in practical ways. We offered to check his blood pressure, gave him a simple massage to ease his body pain, bought some of his medicine, and provided rice for his daily needs. Through both the message of the Bible and these small acts of kindness, Tatay slowly began to see the love of God.

After that, he started attending the crusade meetings every night. His interest grew stronger each day.

By the end of the meetings, Tatay was filled with joy. On Sabbath, October 4, 2025, he made the decision to be baptized and accept God as his personal Savior.

Seeing his transformation reminded me that sometimes the simplest acts of compassion, when combined with God’s Word, can lead someone to a completely new life.
