"And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." Isaiah 65:24
Back in college, I had my whole life mapped out — or at least I thought I did. I had dreams, goals, and a very detailed vision of my “main character” future. I was going to achieve everything on my checklist and build a life that made sense to me. But God? He had a completely different storyline in mind — one that was way bigger than anything I could’ve planned. He called me to be a missionary.

And honestly? That was not in my five-year plan.
At the time, I was driven by ambition, pride, and a lot of self-centered dreams. I wanted success. I wanted recognition. I wanted control. But despite all of that — despite my flaws, doubts, and weaknesses — God still chose me. Not because I was perfect, but because He had a purpose. And somehow, by His grace, I said yes.
When He calls you, you know. Even when fear creeps in. Even when your faith gets stretched. Even when you step into something completely unfamiliar. His voice was steady. Clear. Persistent. And when everything felt uncertain, that was the one thing I was sure of.
Then I arrived at my mission field in Albuera, Leyte.
Reality hit fast.

We struggled — especially with food and finances. There were days when our rice container had only one cup left. Days when we had just enough money to buy water. Our monthly stipend was small, and there were moments when we genuinely didn’t know how we would make it through the week.
But here’s the thing: God provided. Every single time.
Not always early. Not always in the way we expected. But always right on time.
Our experience reminded me so much of the story of Elijah and the widow in Zarephath. She only had a handful of flour and a little oil — barely enough for herself and her son. Yet she chose to give first, in faith. And God made sure her jar never ran dry. That became our reality.

There were times we lacked food for ourselves, but we made a decision: our doors would stay open. If someone needed prayer, a meal, or simply a place to rest, we wouldn’t turn them away. Even if it meant fasting. Even if it meant sacrificing. And somehow, what we had was always enough. It didn’t make sense on paper, but it made perfect sense in God’s economy.
Instead of focusing on what we didn’t have, we found ourselves overwhelmed with gratitude for what we did have. Provision. Protection. Purpose. Presence.

And honestly? Jesus became more than enough for me.
Not the comfort. Not the stability. Not the backup plan. Just Him.
This journey taught me something I’ll never forget: God isn’t looking for flawless people with impressive résumés. He’s looking for willing hearts. People who will say yes even when it’s scary. People who will trust Him in the lack. People who will step forward even when they feel unqualified.
Because in our weakness, He shows His strength. In our emptiness, He fills. And when we place our little — our time, our resources, our obedience — into His hands, it becomes more than enough.
Little becomes much when it’s surrendered to God.
