“MORE THAN THIRTY”

“The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.”

1 Thessalonians 5:24

When I first arrived in the village, I felt lost. There were no church members, the place was uncomfortable, and I had no one but God.  I prayed, but my faith was weak, and discouragement came often. Still, I held on to my calling. We continued visiting homes, and as children began to gather, I slowly built connections with the community.

We decided to hold our first evangelistic meeting. A medical team from Korea came to support us—offering treatment during the day and joining us in evangelism at night. But just a week before the meeting, our district pastor—our main speaker—was suddenly transferred. Our venue was also canceled. I was overwhelmed with worry.

So I did what I knew to do: I prayed more. “God, please make Your plan happen. Give me simple faith. Help me not to doubt anymore.” To release the stress, I played ball with the children. And slowly, one by one, God solved every problem—in His way, in His time. But even during the meeting itself, problems continued. Heavy rain fell every night, and many people didn’t come. My heart sank. But God was already working.

People came with umbrellas, walking in the rain. An old man known for drinking came for the first time. A woman who never opened her door to us finally came to listen. Night after night, I watched both young and old read the Bible together, reflect, and grow. I saw God planting seeds of truth and love in their hearts.

When the final Sabbath came, people asked me, “How many will be baptized?”I said, “Even ten is good… but I believe God can make twenty.” That day, more than thirty came forward for baptism.

Among them was a family I’ll never forget. A 13-year-old girl often visited our house to pray, sing, and read the Bible. She was the only Adventist in her family. Her dream was simple but deep: “I want my family to come to church with me.”

She held on to her dream, praying silently as we visited her family—offering help, giving foot massages, becoming friends. Though her parents stayed distant spiritually, she never gave up. Then one night near the end of the meetings, they quietly came and sat down. I sat beside them, reading the Bible and praying in my heart.

On baptism day, her parents and younger brother stood up. I cried—for the first time at a baptism. The girl wept with me. Her prayer had been answered. Now, she walks to church every Sabbath holding her mother’s hand, smiling brightly.

This mission wasn’t about our ability or our planning. Truly, it was all God’s work. We did nothing great—we were only witnesses.
